“Cindy, why are you answering Simon’s phone.”
Cindy hanged up the phone and realized her mistake then her mobile phone rang.
“Sorry I hang up on you didn’t mean to answer the call. Shouldn’t be here.”
“Cindy, did you break into Simon’s house?”
“Yes, broke into the house.”
“Need to find evidence.”
“Evidence, what evidence?”
“Simon murdered Ben.”
“Why break into his house?”
“To find evidence.”
The front door opened, Cindy whispered,
“Oh, Simon’s here need to go. Can you please distract him?”
Hannah replied, “Okay.”
Cindy put the phone off and hid behind the red curtains. Her heart raced as the footsteps walked towards the study room, the doorbell rang. Cindy breathed a sigh of relief as Simon walked towards the door and opened the door.
Hannah stood outside smiling,
“Hey Simon, need help with a photo frame, cannot decide.”
“Hannah, sorry can’t -.”
Hannah held Simon by the hands, “Oh, come, please.”
When the door closed, Cindy walked to the window where Simon and Hannah walked down the stairs. Cindy came out of the house, walked to the park, and entered her car. The plan didn’t go well. Simon wasn’t supposed to arrive for another two hours, he came back in half an hour and she answered the phone by accident. Simon came out of Hannah’s house and walked towards his house. Cindy jumped when the phone rang.
“What were you thinking?”
“Why, break into Simon’s house.”
“Need the truth. Oh, Simon spotted my car, walking towards the park.”
“Wil be there.”
Cindy came out of the car and walked towards Simon and smiled.
Simon smiled and said,
“Hey, why are you parked here?”
“Shade, nice shade in the park.”
Hannah walked towards them,
“Hey Cindy ready to go shopping?”
Simon said, “Have fun.”
Hannah and Cindy entered the car, waved to Simon, and drove to the Mall.
They entered the Mall and sat outside the food court, they both ordered a sandwich and a diet coke. Hannah said,
“What were you thinking?”
“He knows what happened to Ben.”
“Even I know what happened to Ben. Carjacked and strangled.”
“That’s what the police said. Simon killed Ben.”
“Why would Simon kill Ben?”
“Had a fight a week before Ben died.”
“Yeah, was at home that Saturday evening. The doorbell rang, Ben opened the door, heard the coffee table crashing. I hid under the bed, an argument broke out, and the door slammed. Walked to the sitting room. Ben had a black eye and nose bleed.”
“Ben said nothing. Vowed never to mention the argument to anyone.”
“That’s why you broke into Simon’s house to get evidence?”
“Yeah, spent two weeks tracking Simon’s movement.”
“Wow, why didn’t you go to the police.”
“Want him to confess.”
After Cindy and Hannah had lunch in the Mall, Cindy drove Hannah back home. Passed Simon’s house, the car wasn’t in the garage. Cindy said,
“Do you think he knows?”
“You breaking into his house, nah.”
“Thanks for your help.”
“Next time let me know, will distract him again.”
“He goes to the gym tomorrow. Will try again.”
“Okay, will go to the gym with him.”
Cindy waved to Hannah, and she drove home.
Hannah entered her house and dropped the keys in the bowl and walked towards the kitchen. Jumped when she saw Simon standing at the back door. Disappointment written on his face.
“Hey, Simon you scared me.”
“What was Cindy doing in my house?”
“Don’t know what you’re talking-.”
“Liar, what is Cindy -.”
“Why don’t you ask Cindy?”
He walked towards her and pushed her against the wall, held her by the throat,
“Again, what was Cindy doing in my house?”
Tears dropped from her eyes,
“Is that the truth?.”
She nodded yes,
He removed his phone from his pocket. She heard Cindy talking to her when she called in the morning.
“I have a voice detector in my house and recorded Cindy talking to you. Again, why did she break into my house?”
“She thinks you killed Ben.”
“I don’t know.”
He held her throat tighter and banged her head on the wall,
“You killed him after the argument.”
“Did she find the evidence?”
Hannah nodded no as tears dropped on his gloves.
“She is coming tomorrow, when you go to the gym.”
“Will wait for her.”
Simon let Hannah go and she collapsed on the floor crying and trying to breathe. He removed the gun and said.
He looked at Hannah tears in her eyes and shot her. Took his phone and called Cindy,
“Hey Cindy, I making dinner for both you and Hannah. Yes Cindy I can cook. Lorna insisted I cook at her house. She is such a perfectionist with food and wants to make sure I give no one food poisoning. Haha, see you later.”
He looked at Lorna’s lifeless body and smiled,
“Time to get dinner ready.”
Cindy called Hannah after Simon had called. She got a message. From Hannah’s phone,
“I’m with Simon, can’t talk to you now.”
Cindy answered the message. “Cool, can you keep him busy while I break into his house, what time is dinner?”
Simon replied, “Okay, Dinner is at seven. I will place the keys under the flower pot near the door,”
Cindy replied, “Ok, will enter his house again, keep him distracted.”
Cindy closed her phone, smiled, and wondered why she never planned this with Hannah.
The evening Cindy arrived an hour early and parked her car at the park. Simon’s lights were off and Lorna’s lights were on, glad Hannah was keeping Simon busy. Maybe Hannah made Simon cook the pasta again or sitting watching a movie. Cindy came out of her car, walked to Simon’s house and found the keys under the flower pot. Opened the door entered the dark house. Removed her torch and snooped. The lights came on and she screamed. Simon stood near the door and walked towards her and she wondered why Hannah didn’t warn her.
“Why are you breaking into my house?”
“What, no I didn’t.”
“What are you doing in my house?”
“Nothing, I -.”
Simon walked towards Cindy,
“So you broke into my house for nothing.”
“I didn’t break into your house,”
“So what are you doing here?”
“Hannah asked me to check if you had apples in your fridge,”
“Yeah, Why don’t we go ask her?”
“Okay, apples are in the fridge.”
Cindy breathed a sigh of relief opened the fridge and found three green and red apples. She took them and smiled. Simon said,
“You need more green apples. Will go to the shops and get more apples.”
Cindy smiled, “Ok, thanks.”
They both walked towards Lorna’s house, Simon rang the doorbell as Cindy wondered why Simon said, he would go get more green apples. Simon said,
“Must be in the shower, will use the spare keys.”
Cindy smiled as Simon removed the keys and opened the door. Cindy entered the house and stooped, dropped the apples on the floor, the house had a foul smell. Tears dropped from her eyes as she saw Hannah’s lifeless body on the corridor. She heard a click.
“Again, why did you break into my house?”
Simon removed his phone, played her conversation with Hannah.
“You and Hannah don’t know I have a voice detector in my house. When I leave the alarm detects noises and movements in my house and it goes straight to my phone.”
Cindy turned and looked at Hannah’s body. She got Hannah killed, and it was her fault, wish she didn’t answer the phone, wish she never broke into the house. Turned to Simon.
“Why. Did you kill Ben?”
“Never paid me back my money warned him but never listened. He worked late that night, parked his car at the same spot since he worked at Brown’s Lawyers. That night, entered his car, sat at the back seat and waited for him. He finished work, got into the car where I strangled him, drove to the highway, abandoned his car, walked to my car.”
“That’s how you killed him.”
“Yes, and now you.”
“Snooped around my house, lied, your friend covered up for you. Now time to eat.”
“I’m not hungry.”
He pointed the gun at her,
Cindy walked to the dining room, there was a bowl of noodles. Simon made her sit, held the gun at her head and told her to eat. Cindy refused. Simon pushed her face closer to the bowl.
Closed her eyes, grabbed the fork, and ate. Felt dizzy and passed out.
Cindy opened her eyes, noticed two police officers standing near her bed, once hand cuffed to the rail of the bed,
“What's happening, did nothing. Why am I cuffed?”
Detective Dex walked in the room and said,
“Your friend Simon saved your life. You tried killing yourself after killing your friend Hannah.”
“No. Simon did that.”
“You broke into his house yesterday.”
“No, he is lying,”
“We have a video and a tape recorder showing you entering his house. In the morning and night. Simon caught you in his house in the evening. According to Simon, a beep alerted him there was an intruder in the house, when he was at the park. We saw the video, he entered the house and saw you, You lied Hannah need apples, she died two hours before you arrived. You sent Simon to get apples so he could find your body and Hannah’s body when he arrives with the apples.”
“No, Simon killed Ben and Hannah.”
“Simon saved your life, He came back from the shops with the apples and saw the suicide note-.”
“What suicide note, No, he framed me.”
“We found your car at the park, with the rope used to strangle Ben and pieces of your nail on the rope. Your suicide note explained everything. You killed Hannah after she found out you broke into Simon’s house and murdered Ben.”
“What, no, I’m being framed.”
“But you told Hannah how Ben got murdered.”
Simon walked into the room; he looked concerned and said,
“Is she going to be ok?”
Dex replied, “Yes, she will be fine. The doctors said, you brought her in time and they managed saving her.”
Dex phone beeped, the officers left the room, and Cindy screamed,
“Don’t leave him here, please let me go. He’s the murderer.”
Tears dropped from her eyes and Simon stood at her bedside with a smile on his face.
“You framed me.”
Simmons’s smile grew bigger.
“You’re a murderer.”
Simon waved to her and walked out the room, she screamed,
“You murder, you framed me.”
Cindy fell back on the pillow and cried. That’s the price she is paying for Bens murder and snooping around Simon’s house. She wanted the truth and ended up being framed.
