Sally and Clare arrived at Mike’s house and they greeted him. She walked outside expecting people to greet her and tell her Chris still loves her but got ignored. Attending his birthday party was a bad idea. Loneliness, ignored and awkwardness rushes through her body as she stood alone outside sipping sangria. They met here a year ago through their mutual friend Mike their first kiss was on the dance floor. Inside the house, a long white table filled with food made one hungry, while outside two chefs doing the barbeque, the aroma spicy grilled chicken filled the air. People on the dance floor dancing to the music playing outside, others sitting on white plastic chairs eating, or standing at the corner talking and drinking. Stella walked back inside the house to pour more sangria. Her heart skip a beat when Chris walked in with a brunette girl wearing a white dress that showed off her curves. Her arms around his arm her finger had a diamond ring. The rumour was true, Chris got engaged. He kisses his girlfriend. She giggles pushing Chris away as jealousy swept over her.
She pours more punch in the plastic cup and throws it on Chris’s face. His girlfriend screams as the red punch lands on her dress. People laughed while others stopped talking as they watched her leave. Chris follows her wiping his face with a napkin.
Stella walked downstairs as Chris tells her to stop but she kept on walking, he grabs her hand and says,
“What’s your problem?”
She turned round and slapped him, “You, I thought you invited me to rekindle our relationship but you wanted to show of your new girlfriend.”
“Ha, rekindle with you, no way.”
“Don’t you think you are rushing? I mean we broke up seven months ago and you’re already engaged. You never gave our relationship a chance, when I said no to your proposal, you walked out of my life.”
“Hey, I wouldn’t seat around and wait for you.”
“Why did I bother coming,” she said as she wiped the tears from her eyes.
“Do you know why our relationship didn’t work?”
“Yes, you are controlling –.”
“Hey, don’t make me the bad guy here. We wanted different things. I thought you knew that.”
“You’re an idiot,” She said as she walked away.
She sensed him looking at her. She looked at him as his girlfriend came outside. He placed his arm on her back as they walked up the stairs, he turned round and waved to her and entered Mike’s house. When she reached home, she hated everything about him. She took the frame and threw it on the wall, the glass shattered as the wooden frame breaks in half. She tears his picture up as tears ran down her face.
