Betty and I made a pact that if neither one of us are married by the age of 35, we will get married. Betty had long black hair and had an hourglass figure, brown skin and a wide smile. She was my best friend and told me everything. I got jealous whenever I saw her with another boy. My mission, make sure she breaks up with them and marry me before we reach 35.
We agreed at 16 and I broke her first relationship when she was 17. Brayan and I wanted to go to the prom with her. She got excited when Brayan asked her to the prom and I was there to ruin it. I invited Brayan and Lisa for lunch. Toke a picture of them laughing and sent it to Betty, who got upset Brayan and Lisa said nothing was going on between them but I said I was there when they kissed, which Betty believed and dumped Brayan. She had no date for the prom. I asked her to be my date, she agreed, on the prom day I picked her up with a limo, and we had our first dance.
We went to the same university together she wanted to do law, so I did law but she changed her preference and did Theatre and Art. I ended up doing law, worst years of my life. At 21 she was in a relationship with Jaime, one of her classmates and they had done two plays together. I hated him. In one play he kissed her. I wanted to throw my show at him. He kissed my girl, I had to break them up. When Betty told me that Jaimie asked her out, I had to find a plan to break them up. I knew this girl Tina in my class who had a crush on Jaime and I told her I would fix them up. Jaime and Betty stayed in the same apartment. I told Jaimie that Tina and I would do a double date with them and he agreed and I lied to him I told Betty which I did not. On that Saturday I picked up Tina, we went to Jaimie's apartment. I opened the bottle of wine and spiked their drink. When they dozed off, I put them on Betty's bed and left the apartment. When Betty came home she screamed, kicked Jaimie out and called me and told me what happened. I arrived to her house, comforted her and cuddled her. That was our first night together.
Betty was happy I was there for her and wondered why they guys she met where hopeless. Things went on well for a year. I moved to her apartment, enjoyed late night movies, sometimes we would share the same bed. She got a role in a movie in Hollywood called A dozen stars. She promised me she would be back in a year and she left. Two months later, she dated Chris White the heartthrob of Hollywood. The paparazzi toke pictures of them on the beach, on his yacht, on vacation and red carpets. Jealousy sprang again. I could not let her marry this guy so I cooked up another plan, I once took a picture of Betty and Jaimie without her knowledge kissing a year ago on the beach. I photo shopped that picture and placed it on the Celeb magazine with the heading Betty has moved on. The picture went viral and people kept calling her a traitor and a player and so on. I kind of felt bad but what the heck, she and Chris broke up.
I flew to Hollywood, comforted her, and stayed for a week. After the movie ended and a year later she came back and I thought I would pop the question so I did. On Valentine’s Day, I bought roses and champagne and booked reservations at the most romantic restaurant in town, Gem a beautiful restaurant on top of a hill top where you could see a 360 degree view of the whole city and the Indian ocean. Filled with excitement she agreed to meet me for dinner. She looked amazing when she smiled, walked towards me and gave me a kiss. We sat down looking at the beautiful view. I ordered champagne, she refused and went for sparkling water and so I went for sparkling water too. I took her by the hand and she looked surprised. I went down om my knee and asked her to marry me and she had tears in her eyes. Then Chris White shows up and sees me on my knees and left us and sat on another table.
"Chris and I are already married. We got married a year ago and having a baby. After that picture showed up online, we said we broke up but we kept dating and moved away from the paparazzi. We got married at Maldives only our parents and close family attended. I am sorry for not telling you." Betty said looking at me.
Chris came and said, "Sorry man."
"Goodbye." Betty said as she got close to hug me I moved away not looking at her, she turned round and she and Chris left walking hand in hand and I felt gutted and heartbroken. The girl I once loved is married.
